About CYT Shows

CYT shows are appropriate for the entire family and are an excellent way to introduce children to the arts! CYT produces one Broadway-style musical each session. Enrollment in CYT classes provides students (ages 8-18) the opportunity to audition for a current production. Students not cast in the show are encouraged to participate in other ways. Depending on age and ability, students (and siblings) can participate on the backstage crew, technical team, or the costume and makeup committees.

Family Committment


If your child is cast in Aladdin Jr, the following will apply:
  • A Production Fee of $260 will be applied to your account and can be paid in 4 payments of $65/month.
  • A Show Box will need to be purchased to keep all show items (Checklist provided).
  • Each student will be required to sell 10 tickets to the show. (Families with multiple students are asked to sell a minimum of 20 Tickets)
  • Families are asked to commit 20 volunteer hours by joining a production team.
We will have an "Audition Preparation" Workshop on October 31, 10a - 11:30a.

Audition Information


How to Audition for a Show: 
  1. Login or Create a Family Account
  2. Register your student for a Winter Session Class (ages 8-18)
  3. Select an audition time slot during the registration process.
  4. Fill out the Audition Form
  5. Come to the audition prepared to perform for the Aladdin Jr. Artistic Team

Eligibility:

Depending on your role, students may not be called to all rehearsal times.  After casting, a calendar will be sent to all families. 
 

Tech Week & Performances

Tech Week is mandatory. This is when we bring together the cast, costumes, sets, props, lighting, sound, and backstage crew to prepare for performances.
  • Monday, February 8–Thursday, February 11 | 5:30–9:00 PM: Tech rehearsals
  • Friday, February 12 | 5:00 PM call time: 7:00 PM performance
  • Saturday, February 13 | 12:00 PM call time: 2:00 PM matinee and 7:00 PM evening performance
On Saturday, February 13, students will remain at the theater between performances. Dinner will be available for purchase.

All students must be available for every scheduled performance and the full tech week. Please plan accordingly before auditioning.
